July 2018, marked Pierce Brosnan and his wife, Keely Shaye Smith, 25 year anniversary. The couple had met at a beach party in Mexico in 1994. Keely was in Mexico to interview Cheers actor Ted Danson. At the party she started talking to Pierce they immediately had a connection.
"He was captivating. Tall, dark, and handsome," she recalled. "Everything that everybody would immediately be attracted to. He had a mischievous sparkle in his eyes."
“I found a great woman in Keely Shaye,” said Pierce to People. “Not if I searched a million times over would I find one as good.”
The couple married seven years later in 2001. Their wedding took place in Pierce's native Ireland at Ballintubber Abbey in County Mayo and had 100 guests in attendance. The day featured a fireworks display, a seven-tier cake and an elaborate ice sculpture of Rodin's The Kiss.
Brosnan has always been open about his feelings and proclaimed his love for Keely saying:
"I love her vitality, her passion. She has this strength that I wouldn't be able to live without. When Keely looks at me, I go weak. I found a great woman in Keely. Not if I searched a million times over would I find one as good."
Pierce often takes to Instagram to share tributes to the woman he calls "my girl." The actor revealed that he would fly his wife out to his film sets, saying:
"Wherever I went in the world I missed her, and I'd send her tickets to come so we could be together. We just seemed to fit."
To commemorate their 25 year anniversary the actor penned a sweet tribute to Keely on Instagram. He posted a photo of himself with Keely.
“Thank you for the love, my love of these past 25 years,” he wrote. “Onwards.”
According to People, the couple were together for many years before tying the knot. So while it is technically only their 17th wedding anniversary, they have been together for 25 yeas.They have two sons together, Dylan, 21, and Paris, 17, and were married a few months after Paris was born.
Pierce had been married before. His first wife, Cassandra, died in 1991 from ovarian cancer. He had adopted her two children from a previous marriage, Charlotte and Christopher. They also had a son, Sean together. Charlotte died from the same disease in 2013 at the age of 41.
